Rabbi & Cantor - Tobias Gabriel
B’Nai Shalom North is a welcoming, inclusive, traditional conservative congregation, located in Thornhill, Ontario - just north of Toronto.
We have been a congregation since 1983, providing Jewish religious services for hundreds of our members every year. In addition, we have always helped many charitable organizations with financial donations, as well as providing them with a promotional platform from which they could appeal to our members for further assistance.
Our mission is, primarily, to provide essential religious Jewish services, assist the community at large by donating to worthy charities and encouraging our members to keep the Jewish faith and Jewish traditions to the best of their abilities.
Attending our High Holiday services once a year for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is the bare minimum that a Jewish person can do to keep in touch with our religion. At the very least, this gives us the opportunity to pray for forgiveness, atonement and a better year. In addition, it is a good opportunity to meet and connect with other Jews and members of our community during our High Holiday services and three wonderful kiddishes.
In the Yom Kippur service in 2017 our president gave a very well-described and received overview of what happened to his family during the war.
Inspired by that, and the realization that so many families have similar stories to pass along, we are starting a new section on this web site on which anyone, member, congregant, or not, can post their own family's story. If you'd like to add your family history, please contact us.
